Spring is officially here! Sorry for the delay getting this note out. The Board has been extremely busy prepping for the summer season. The pool will be replastered and will be opening on Memorial Day weekend. The pool has not been replastered since it was built 15 years ago. The cost will be ~$65,000, but it’s long overdue.
The tennis courts opened on April 15th and are ready for tennis and pickleball season. About $20,000 was spent last summer to resurface the courts and add pickleball lines. Unfortunately, two days later a person decided to use the courts as a dog pen to play fetch with a tennis ball. This has left deep scratches on the playing surface. The tennis courts are strictly reserved for tennis and pickleball. ANY OTHER USE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. We’ve contemplated putting up a trail camera to catch those who violate the rules.
Speaking of cameras, two new security cameras in the Clubhouse. One in the dining area and one in the great room. This was necessary due to damages and excessive wear and tear on the Clubhouse. We’ve spent $500 to repair damages to the paint in the great room. Paint was peeled off by someone putting tape on the walls. Also, some of the curtains in the great room were torn down during an event. They have been removed and the holes repainted. The removal of the curtains in the great room makes it more light and airy. In addition, the furniture in the Clubhouse has been reconfigured to promote a better flow. We need to think about painting the Clubhouse, interior and exterior. The porch will be power washed next week.
The fitness center has seen significant damage in a short period of time. Two belts on the treadmills and a belt on the elliptical had to be replaced because of improper use. The edges of the treadmill treads are getting WORN down – please do not let heals drag on belt when feet are rested on the side foot panels – this causes damage to the belts. Please, appropriate footwear and gym clothing are mandatory. A new weight bench has been donated by a resident and there has been positive feedback.
All three above are examples of unnecessary expenses which are totally preventable. It’s sad this month’s newsletter mentions amenities which have been compromised. All of these incidents take time and money away from more important Board business and each and every one shares in these costs.
Good news on the website! We’ve contracted with Red Sandals Design to create a website for the Neighborhoods, a prototype has been developed and will be beta tested next week. It will have a link for residents with meeting minutes, budgets and access to view calendars.
Finally, speeding on Countryside Boulevard continues to be a MAJOR problem. The speed limit within the property of the Neighborhoods is 20 MPH. Spring is here and more folks are getting out to walk, jog and walk their dogs. It is not only a problem for our neighborhoods, the Management of Riverwoods have brought similar complaints. The Manchester police department has, and will monitor the speed limit on that road.
